September Meeting Notes

The guild is considering changing to a less formal structure with out officers or collecting dues.
Among the changes discussed at the September meeting were the possibility of seeking a new, more central location and meeting at an earlier time, potentially from 4 PM to 6 PM on the first Thursday of the month. Potential locations discussed were the Putney Library, Putney School, Putney Community Center, and the Putney Cares Barn. We will continue to meet at the Brattleboro Savings and Loan until December, by which time hopefully we will have made a decision regarding the new location. Beginning in January, all future meetings will be elsewhere. Members are encouraged to email the list to discuss this and any other ideas for a new location, and any other suggestions for changes to the guild.
Once the guild have chosen our new location, we will compile a detailed list of all the equipment; this equipment may also be made available to the public, though anyone interested in making use of it will be expected to pay a deposit and provide contact information. The "rental" period will be a certain number of days, at the end of which the equipment must be returned to the guild. All this is also open to discussion among current guild members.
Please bring any thoughts, suggestions, and ideas to the October meeting!

May Meeting Notes

Alison very kindly arranged for us to watch a dvd of Judith MacKenzie prepping and spinning exotic fibers ranging from angora to cashmere, and beyond. There was popcorn and a brief discussion to see if there was any interest in making use of Six Loose Ladies' new facilities for a dye workshop, as well as the possibility of taking a field trip to a bison farm outside of Townshend.

April Meeting Notes

The guild will be participating in the Wild and Woolly Weekend at The Pointe Hotel again this year, so anyone who has fiber-related things they'd like to donate can still bring them to the mini-meeting on April 25. If you're interested in manning the table, the hours are from 10 to 5 on Saturday, April 27 and from 10 to 3 on Sunday, April 28. Anyone interested in this is encouraged to contact Alison and/or Jenna; any questions may also be directed to them.

February Meeting Notes

Cindy and Alison very kindly held a supported spinning demo using an assortment of Russian-style spindles and one lonely little Tibetan-style spindle. Cindy even demonstrated the use of the long draw while using a supported spindle.
Alison also announced that she is planning to step down as head of the guild. There will be further discussion of this at the next meeting, so please bring ideas.
Also, are there any folks willing to be part of the committee on events?

December Meeting Notes

Allison asked if anyone was interested in the idea of the guild participating in next year's Wild and Woolly Weekend and put it to a vote: Motion carried! We'll have a table for destashing fiber and fiber-related goods again this year; the show is in April, so if you're interested in finding homes for things, you've got until the April meeting to think about it. :)

Hope all of you had a safe, happy holiday and that the New Year brings you nothing but good things.
